i started this thread for sharing of information on burning software and the DVD media that works for cloning Xbox games without the need for linking up Xbox to PC.
So far I have tried burning a few games on DVDRW- (Sony and Verbatim) using both Nero 6 and Recordnow Max without success. My xbox cannot detect both discs.
My only success is using a Mitsubishi DVD-R, Recordnow Max and Prince of Persia. It works perfectly fine.
I wonder if I continue to use this combination, Mitsubishi DVD-R and Recordnow max to burn other games, will the disc be workable?
Does anyone knows which of the following will affect the success of a cloned disc:- 1. The DVD copying software used (eg. Nero, Recordnow, etc) 2. The type and brand of media used (can DVD+R be used?) 3. The Xbox game title being copied 4. The Version of the Xbox game, whether it is pirated or original.
Hope anyone else with success with homebrew games can share their experience here for the benefit of others, esp on the brand of media used.

Have you tried doing it this way? Assuming your xbox is networked with your pc Place the game disk you want to be extracted into your xbox dvd drive. (with modchip turned on) The game disk can be original or backup disc Download and install Qwix into your pc system Taking note of your xbox ip address run Qwix and Create ISO, from FTP folder Create the game iso in your HDD. Then using Nero burn the iso into your DVD media of choice. My samsung drive doesn't like DVD+RW, or -RW, but is okay with DVD-R "A1" Brand ;D sorry saw that you are talking about cloning w/o using the xbox, well my experience is using Nero DVD copy work with backup copy of games, no success with original disks hope this helps mechaman i started this thread for sharing of information on burning software and the DVD media that works for cloning Xbox games without the need for linking up Xbox to PC. Thanks for your tips on burning with XBOX linked to PC. Yes, I was actually referring to the lazy method of doing it without linking the two. From reading some of the tutorials from Xbox-scene, I gather that the only way to successfully back up ORIGINAL xbox games is using your method. However, if burning from another pirated or backed up version, it is possible to do it with the PC alone using Nero or Recordnow. This is because backed up discs are burnt in GDF ISO, XISO ISO and UDF formats, which the PC can recognize. Original Xbox are burnt in another proprietory format which the PC cannot read. (Mechaman, please correct me if I am wrong here) You also mentioned that you have no success with DVDRW (both + & -), so I guess thats why I didn't have any success with burning on DVDRWs too. So the only way is to risk it and burn directly on DVD-R discs. Note that there is a chance that certain brands' DVD-R discs cannot be read by XBOX. So when purchasing new brands for the first time, please buy in small quantity to test first. So far, I have tried successfully using Mitsubishi DVD-R media. If you have tried using other brands and tasted success, please add and share in this thread, thank you. Also, has anybody tried on DVD+R format with success?
