Hello. Yes, I've done this before and original game disk also hang. The DVD drive itself is a new Samsung drive. On the reformatting, am I reformatting the entire drive and thus loosing all the original games?

To make sure everything is back to original you have to reformat everything in c: partition. Your game backups should not be affected. You can backup your game saves in c: using a game save manager to your pc (using a network cable) or use a memory card. in your previous post u mentioned that u have formatted your e:\ assuming u have a upgraded hdd your games should be in f:\games Hello.
