Hello. I'm not sure what's wrong at the moment. I have a Duox2 chip with EvoX. At the moment all games on my HD freeze up within the first 20 seconds or so. Sometimes they don't even launch as I get the 'dirty disk error' from the HD. Games or movies from DVD also lock up (Samsung Drive). Also freezing occasionally on the MS Dashboard. Any ideas? Thanks!

Hi, you can try clearing your cache as mentioned in my post below mechaman999.proboards3.com/index.cgi?board=backups&action=display&n=1&thread=89This would solve most problems with games hanging. As a final last resort, do a complete format and reinstall of your dashboard and applications in your HDD. If this still does not solve your problem then most probably it's due to hardware fault and not s/w You can use Slayer's AutoInstaller for this purpose. Good luck I cleared the cache and saved game files, but still no luck.

Well, the guy that modded it told me to flash the bios and I did, but now the system won't power up. I can get it to power using the 'eject' (modchip off), but if I use the power button it doesn't start up.

I don't think there's no need to flash the chip unless your mod is done some years back. Two questions, 1. what xbox version do u have ? (v1.0~1.6/b) 2. Which bios did u flashed into the Duox2? The Duox2 bios banks required 512kb, did u use the correct size? If u flashed in a standard 256Kb bin file the chip will not boot. Try switching to the other bank of your modchip to boot. U should ask your modder to reflash your chip using a external programmer or do a hot swap bios flash to get it booting again Well, the guy that modded it told me to flash the bios and I did, but now the system won't power up. I can get it to power using the 'eject' (modchip off), but if I use the power button it doesn't start up.

Well, here's how to do a hotswap flash. What u need. Friend with a modded xbox, modchip must be installed using pinheader method Description u will have to open up the xbox to do this. (be careful not to touch the metal when u do this, electric shock is possible ) 1. open up the xbox and remove the dvd and hdd drive carrirers 2. leave the power and ide cables connected 3. the modchip should be exposed 4. boot up the set in modded mode with Slayer's disc 5. With power still on carefully remove existing modchip and insert your own chip into the exposed pinheader (power is still turned on, hence "hotswap" ;D) 6. Flash your modchip with the correct bios ie. M8+ in your case 7. Remove flashed chip and reinstall in your Xbox to test. Pls do this at your own risk and good luck! (ps. You have to register as a member before u can post in my forums, this is due to too many spammers, sorry) he's suggested i do a hotswap by finding another person with an xbox here to boot mine up with their chip then putting my chip back in to reflash

thanks, i really appreciate your help. as i mentioned before though, i'm in iraq at the moment and a 'hotswap' is sort of difficult. i found two other systems (one softmod and one with a soldered chip) if i can simply find someone willing to sell a modchip with the bios already in it, will this work too as long as there aren't any other problems (hd or dvd drive)

Yes, if there are no other problems there shouldn't be a problem installing a modchip with bios preflashed for V1.6 thanks, i really appreciate your help. as i mentioned before though, i'm in iraq at the moment and a 'hotswap' is sort of difficult. i found two other systems (one softmod and one with a soldered chip) if i can simply find someone willing to sell a modchip with the bios already in it, will this work too as long as there aren't any other problems (hd or dvd drive)

Know where I might be able to get a chip with the bios for 1.6b already loaded? Also, when the old chip was flashed incorrectly, would it have changed any settings on the actual Motherboard too??

I have sent an email to your yahoo account. Even if you change the modchip your original game hanging problem might still be there. Flashing the bios does not affect any software settings on the xbox hdd. I recommend you try playing an original game 1st (use eject button to boot up) to see if u still experience the game hanging problems. If the original game stills hangs after 30s or so you might either one of these problems 1. Bad or misaligned lens i.e dvd drive problem 2. Corrupted system files i.e need to reformat and reinstall the original MS dashboard files If not a modchip with the bios preflashed should solve your problem.
